Beat the heat with DIA: Supporting LuzOra workers on Dubai Islands

On 28 July 2026, DIA Developments brought the Beat the Heat initiative to the LuzOra construction site on Dubai Islands, creating a moment of relief, appreciation and solidarity for the team working through the summer heat. By standing alongside them and recognising the conditions they work in, we wanted to show that their wellbeing truly matters. As part of the initiative, 300 natural fruit popsicles were shared with the construction workers helping bring the project to life.

Supporting outdoor workers during Dubai’s summer

Summer in Dubai can be especially challenging for people who spend their working days outdoors. Construction workers are among those most exposed to high temperatures, direct sunlight and the physical effects of heat stress.

Across the UAE, government policies and community-led summer campaigns work to protect outdoor workers through scheduled breaks, shaded rest areas, cooling equipment, drinking water and other forms of heat relief. The UAE’s Occupational Heat Stress Prevention Policy prohibits most outdoor work under direct sunlight between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM from 15 June to 15 September each year.

The World Health Organization also highlights outdoor and manual workers as particularly vulnerable to workplace heat stress, which can lead to dehydration, exhaustion and more serious heat-related illness.

Initiatives such as Beat the Heat complement these essential safety measures by encouraging businesses and communities to recognise the people who continue working throughout the summer and find thoughtful ways to support them.

Bringing a refreshing break to the LuzOra team

As part of the initiative, the DIA Developments team visited the LuzOra construction site on Dubai Islands to personally distribute 300 popsicles to the workers building the project.

For the distribution, we collaborated with LA Paleta by Luna, a homegrown Dubai brand that began as a family kitchen idea. The fruit popsicles are made in Dubai using real fruit and are sweetened with allulose instead of refined sugar.

The focus of the day, however, was the construction team. These are the people working every day to turn LuzOra from a plan into a future home. Their efforts contribute not only to the progress of our residential project but also to the continued growth of Dubai and Dubai Islands.

The distribution offered a short, refreshing break and helped cool things down a little during an intense summer day. More importantly, it gave us an opportunity to speak with the workers, thank them directly and recognise the effort behind every floor of LuzOra.

Living by “Live and benefit others”

At DIA Developments, our motto is “Live and Benefit Others.” For us, this means that development should not only be measured by buildings, construction progress or completed projects. It should also be reflected in how we treat the people responsible for bringing those projects to life.

Taking part in worker-welfare and summer heat-relief initiatives is one way of putting that belief into action. Even a simple gesture can carry meaning when it is delivered with genuine care, respect and appreciation.

As LuzOra continues to rise on Dubai Islands, we remain proud of the team building it. We will continue supporting initiatives that place people at the centre of development and contribute positively to the wider Dubai community.

Because building better homes also means caring for the people who build them.
